The McCourt Foundation (TMF) empowers communities to build a healthier world through research, education, and events. TMF’s mission is to cure neurological diseases while empowering communities to build a healthier world. TMF makes a difference by donating to neurology research, hosting educational forums, and using our events such as the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K, Santa Monica Classic, Boston Waterfront 5K, and Tour de South Shore, as platforms to raise funds for over 105 nonprofit charity partners. Since its inception, TMF has donated more than $6.7 million to neurological research and generated more than $72M for our nonprofit charity partners.
Established in 1992, TMF is a 501 (c)(3) with offices in Boston, MA and Los Angeles, CA.

The McCourt Foundation today announced that the Council for Responsible Sport has officially awarded the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon its highest level of Event Certification - Evergreen Certification - recognizing the race’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, community impact, and responsible event management.
“This recognition is a testament to the work and passion of so many across our event team, our partners, and our city,” said Race Director Stacy Embretson. “We believe major events can inspire meaningful change—and this certification affirms our mission to build a healthier, more sustainable world through sport.”
Organizing a marathon for over 25,000 runners is no small feat. Making it sustainable is even more ambitious. But this year, as runners raced from Dodger Stadium to Century City, the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS underscored its climate-conscious ethos by swapping out nearly a million plastic cups for compostable, PFAS-free alternatives — one of several green efforts that include waste diversion, clothing collection, and tap water towers. The marathon, certified Gold by the Council for Responsible Sport, is once again aimed to meet the highest standards for environmentally responsible events.
Turkish Airlines, the airline flying to more countries than any other, becomes the Official Airline Sponsor of the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS. The national flag carrier previously sponsored the marathon in 2019 and 2020.
As the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS marks its 40th anniversary on March 16, 2025, it proudly announces a collaboration with Chiquita. Serving as an Official Sponsor and the Official Banana for the first time, Chiquita will provide its iconic bananas at both the start and finish lines, giving runners a nutritious, energy-boosting snack to fuel their race and aid recovery, contributing to stay energized from beginning to end.
Optimum Nutrition, the world's #1 sports nutrition brand and part of Glanbia Performance Nutrition, has been named the official protein and energy drink partner of the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon.
Running Icon Joan Benoit Samelson welcomes McCourt Foundation Marathon Chase Champion Stace Ndeewa of Kenya across the finish line in 2:25:28; Kenyan Doninic Ngewno wins men’s marathon 2:11:00 on a St. Patrick’s Day Sunday.

The extraordinary legacy of the late, great Nipsey Hussle continues as the Neighborhood Nip Foundation gears up to participate as an official charity partner in the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon. Hussle’s The Marathon Clothing (TMC) brand will enter a team of 15 or more, with all funds raised by each runner benefitting the Neighborhood Nip Foundation. The participating team is being sponsored by The Marathon Clothing (TMC), The Marathon Water, and Puma. The 39th running of the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS takes place in Los Angeles on March 17, 2024.
