Party Pacers
The Party is in the Back!
Calling all Party People!
Join the Party Pace Program and bring the party to the back of the pack! Launched in 2023, our Party Pacers are passionate and caring volunteers, dedicated to uplifting others at The McCourt Foundation events. They’re all about celebrating positive finishes, not just personal bests.
As part of our team, you'll be a first-class guide, helping others navigate the course, pointing out aid stations and landmarks, sharing words of encouragement, and spreading joy through high-fives and cheers.
If you're energetic, kind-hearted, and passionate about community, we want you to join us on race day and help make it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved!
Party Pacer Perks
As a Party Pacer, you can expect:
- Tons of cheers from the spectators, volunteers and fellow marathoners
- Exclusive gear like the coveted Party Pacers Trucker Hat and neon orange t-shirt
- The chance to join the marathon excitement without having to run 26.2 miles
- A community of kind and supportive people
- Notoriety from being featured on Los Angeles Marathon social media
How to Become a Party Pacer
Join the exclusive ranks of this amazing group of people, and forge friendships with other community-minded team members.
We're recruiting Party Pacers for each of our 2024-2025 races including:
- Santa Monica Classic on September 8, 2024
- Rose Bowl Half Marathon on January 19, 2025
- 40th Running of the Los Angeles Marathon on March 16, 2025
Are you perfect for this role, or would like more information? JOIN THE PARTY by completing the interest form below, and we’ll be in touch with you soon.
No - Party Pacers run, skip, walk, dance, hop, stand, take selfies. They go at whatever pace makes sense for the people they're supporting.
It depends on the race but typically Party Pacers do not complete the whole course. Instead, they are assigned a "zone" with a group of other Party Pacers, consisting of 2-3 miles. They remain in that area for their shift, going back and forth at whatever pace makes sense. They become experts in that location and meet new people as they come through.
Party Pacers shifts are approximately 3 hours - times vary depending on the race.
- At Santa Monica Classic, shift starts around 7:30am
- At the Rose Bowl Half Marathon, shifts start between 8:30am and 9:30am.
- At the Los Angeles Marathon, shifts start between 11am and noon.
(times are approximate and may vary)
Prior to race day, we'll have an online training plus an opportunity to meet up in person and get to know each other at a group run/walk. On race day, Party Pacers team up in small groups with at least one experienced leader. There's no wrong way to party pace, as long as you're having fun and supporting the people around you.
The only way to keep your Loyal status is to register and run the race. Party Pacers do not complete the entire course so will not be eligible for Challenge medals or Loyalty awards.
We hope you'll be so inspired by the Party Pace role that you'll want to do all three TMF races but we understand that may not be possible. We encourage anyone who wants to Party Pace at the LA Marathon (where we need the largest number of volunteers) to sign up for at least one other race as a Party Pacer so you get a sense of how it works prior to the big day.
