LA Road Runners (LARR) is a premier training program based in Los Angeles that supports runners and walkers who wish to participate in the Los Angeles Marathon and all McCourt Foundation races including the Rose Bowl Half and 5K, the Charity Half Marathon, Santa Monica Classic 5K/10K and the LA 5K.
LARR has training locations throughout Los Angeles where runners, walkers, and run/walkers can participate in weekly coached workouts with the official pace team for the LA Marathon. In addition to the in-person trainings on weekends, members enjoy a variety of exclusive benefits including race morning meeting locations, corral B access at the LA Marathon, ASICS training shirts, and special discounts and product samples.
LARR has two membership options:
LARR’s Group Training program is available for those who want in-person coached workouts in a group setting. It includes coached long runs/walks in one of three locations (Santa Monica, Griffith Park, or Encino) on weekends alongside the official pace team for the Los Angeles Marathon; Wednesday coached track nights at Santa Monica High School. Plus ASICS team shirts, exclusive race day access at the Rose Bowl Half and the Los Angeles Marathon; Corral B access at the Los Angeles Marathon and more! There is a fee for the Group Training program.
LARR’s Online program is free and available to anyone interested in the Los Angeles Marathon or in any of the TMF races. This program includes downloadable training plans, weekly email newsletters with coaching tips, access to online resources, and invitations to special live and virtual meet up events.
Registration for the 2025-2026 LARR Season will open in early June. Keep an eye on the newsletter and social media for updates.
Group Training kicks off in late September and lasts 26 weeks.
Add your name to our mailing list to get coaching tips and news about the program.
The LA Road Runners training season will last for 26 weeks starting the weekend of September 21-22 and ending on March 16, 2025. For 2025, the LARR training season will extend through April 27 so as to continue training for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon.
From September to March, we have weekly trainings in three locations:
- "Totem Pole" at Ocean and San Vicente, Santa Monica (Saturdays 7am)
- "Shane's Inspiration Playground", Griffith Park, Los Angeles (Saturdays 7am)
- Balboa Park, Encino (Sundays 7am) - new!
Each location has pace leaders and will follow a pre-planned route that is the longest run/walk of the week. You can stick to one location or move around to different locations as needed.
While most of our members are training for the Los Angeles Marathon, the Group Training program is available to anyone interested in training with us. In addition to the LA Marathon, LARR members often train for and participate in the Rose Bowl Half Marathon or the Charity Half Marathon.
LARR welcomes runners, walkers, and run/walkers. We have pace groups for faster and slower participants; beginners and seasoned marathoners. Pace groups range from a goal finish time of 3 hours to 6:30+ hours. It is easy to switch between pace groups at any time in the season if you want to.
Join us any time!
The Group Training program will accept new members until race weekend, though please note that some benefits are time sensitive – such as access to corral B that closes January 31. The sooner you sign up, the more you will get out of your membership.
Each LARR member is paired with a pace leader and a group that sticks together during the workout. In addition, links to the course are included in the weekly newsletter so you can preview the route and download it onto your phone.
LARR Shirts will be available for our Group Training members to pick up at in-person events such training runs/walks, at races, and special meet ups. Please note that sizes are available while supplies last.
We do not mail shirts
LARR Group Training members get access to the Rose Bowl Stadium locker rooms at the Rose Bowl Half & 5K on April 27, 2025
Los Angeles Marathon participants have exclusive access to special meet up location in Dodger Stadium on race morning, March 16, 2025 (must be registered for LARR and the race by February 28, 2024) and are given access to seeded corral B
Our weekly trainings and race day perks are limited to Group Training Members only but we offer special meet ups throughout the season that all LARR members are invited to attend. This includes large scale meet ups at Dodger Stadium in December and March, as well as localized events hosted with our sponsors. Days and times vary – details will be posted in the newsletter as they become available.
Yes, you will still have access to race day perks.
LARR memberships do NOT include entry to the Los Angeles Marathon or Rose Bowl Half Marathon (or any TMF races). You will need to register separately.
Coach David Levine will help place you in a pace group when you begin attending trainings - once in a group, you can ask your pace leader how they would like you to contact them.
