Seeded Corrals

The seeded corrals at the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon are composed of the fastest 7,300 runners based on previous marathon finishing times.  

Qualifying times for seeded corrals (corral capacities and qualifying times subject to change):  

To Qualify for a Seeded Corral  

• While registering, participants will have the opportunity to enter a previous marathon time during the qualifying period of January 1, 2020 - January 31, 2024. 
• Participants will need to enter the name of the qualifying marathon, the date of that race, and their exact finishing time (hh:mm:ss) for our system to flag the result. 
• Participants also have the option of emailing a finisher certificate or screenshot of their race result to registration@mccourtfoundation.org for verification purposes.  

It is the responsibility of each participant to verify their corral placement and email registration@mccourtfoundation.org in case there is an error in placement. 

The deadline for corral placement is January 31, 2024.

Participants wishing to use an Ironman result for seeded corral purposes should email the proof of finish to registration@mccourtfoundation.org.  

Open Corral  

The Open Corral is the self-seeded placement of participants by expected minute-per-mile pace (8:00 min/mile, 9:00 min/mile, up to 13:00 min/mile). Participants who have not run a marathon under 5:00:59 between January 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023 will automatically be placed in the Open Corral. 

Pro and Elite Age Group Program

Continuing its tradition of recognizing elite age group runners, the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS will again host our Elite Age Group Program. 

This program intends to provide greater exposure and recognition to our fastest age group runners. Program benefits include: 

• Access to a pre-race hospitality area with toilets dedicated to pro and elite age groupers. 
• Direct access to the front of the start line. 
• Women elite age groupers will start in the feature pro women’s start before the Marathon’s 7:00 a.m. main start (time to be determined). 
• Men elite age groupers will start alongside the pro men on the front lines of the 7:00 a.m. main start in front of Corral A. 

Elite Age Group Program Qualifying Standards 

Women Marathon 3:20 or faster Half Marathon 1:37 or faster 

Men Marathon 2:45 or faster Half Marathon 1:16 or faster 

Times must have been achieved within the previous 24 months from race day 

Runners meeting the qualifying time wanting to take advantage of this program, please contact coordinator@mccourtfoundation.org for additional information. Please provide your qualifying time, race, and race date. 

All runners (pro and age group) starting in the “pro” wave are eligible to win prize money. Age groupers starting in these waves are also eligible for age group awards.
