About The McCourt Foundation
Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s or MS.
That’s why The McCourt Foundation works tirelessly to raise funds to advance research for these neurological diseases while supporting the families and caregivers with education and support.
About Us
Our History
The McCourt Family has a long-standing history with neurological diseases, it's something they have lived their entire lives. Long before any one of the seven brothers were born, their father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
After being diagnosed in the prime of his life and after fighting the disease for 42 years, he finally succumbed to it at the age of 67. Soon after his death, their mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Mary McCourt passed away in 2008. Her 12 year illness with Alzheimer's disease ended peacefully.
For the past 21 years, the McCourt family and their committee of colleagues and friends have raised money to further research to find a cure for Azlheimer’s and MS. The foundation runs successful fund raising events which include The McCourt Spring Event, Educational Updates and a the Tour de South Shore bike event.
Today the McCourt Foundation has raised and donated well over a million dollars in research. Moving ahead we strive to drastically increase that dollar amount. We are extending our reach through additional and bigger events including our recent Boston Marathon Fundraising team, and through social media (our Facebook page can be found here) an increased online presence. But we need your help. Please consider participating in one of our upcoming events or make a donation today. Every single dollar donated brings us closer to finding a cure to these neurological diseases. Please join us in our commitment to find a cure.

What We Do
We Advance Research
The McCourt Foundation is committed to raising funds to advance research for neurological diseases. The Foundation is partnered with the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA to raise money for the Center’s research focusing on Alzheimer’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. The Center’s research teams, led by co-founders Dr. Dennis Selkoe and Dr. Howard Weiner, focus their research efforts into the causes and mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and MS. The doctors have each dedicated over 38 years to the study of these disorders and are internationally recognized for their original contributions to research in their respective fields.
We Educate
The McCourt Foundation delivers educational information to the public through what we call Educational Updates. These updates are delivered as in-person events and printed materials called Progress Updates for supporters and the public.
Past topics addressed in our Educational Updates include:
- Theories and Causes
- Advances in MRI Imaging
Please visit our events page to learn more or register for the next Educational Update and our respective research pages for the latest Progress Update. Our goal is to provide valuable information to the public that will support and enhance the lives of those living with and caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or MS. We hope you will participate.
Together we can change the future of Alzheimer’s and MS. Please Donate today.
